1. With high-speed Ethernet channel

The HDMI version 1.4 data cable will add a data channel to support high-speed two-way communication. Interconnected devices that support this feature can send and receive data over Fast Ethernet for any IP-based application. HDMI Ethernet Channel will allow Internet-based HDMI devices and other HDMI devices to share Internet access.

2. With audio return channel

This channel reduces the number of cables required for audio to be routed up and processed and played back. In the case of HDTVs receiving audio and video content directly, this new channel allows HDTVs to transmit audio directly to the AV receiver via the HDMI cable, without the need for another cable.

3. High-definition multimedia interface 

HDMI is a digital video/audio interface technology that conforms to the standards of the high-definition era, and can be used in digital devices with HDMI interfaces such as set-top boxes, DVD players, personal computers, TVs, cameras, and mobile phones.

4. Expand support for color space

While RGB is still the common color space in most video applications, other color models are also gaining popularity, especially in digital photography. Version 1.4 of the HDMI specification adds support for three color spaces (gamuts), allowing manufacturers to present better, more accurate colors for users who enjoy digital photos on high-definition TVs.

5. Support 3D display screen

The new specification will define a common 3D format and resolution for HDMI devices, realize the standardization of the input and output parts of the home 3D system, and support up to two 1080P resolution video streams.

6. Support 4K×2K resolution

The high-definition resolution supported by HDMI equipment will reach 4K × 2K, which is four times the current 1080P, and can transmit content at the same resolution as many digital home theaters. Specific format: 3840×2160 24Hz/25Hz/30Hz; 4096×2160 4K×2K display makes the high-end home theater system comparable to the digital projectors used in many cinemas.
